Dr. John DuRussel has recently joined our practice. He was born in Brighton, Colorado but resided in rural Michigan for most of his life. Growing up in a small town instilled in him a great sense of community. Working on his family farm engrained in him the importance of hard work, dedication, and pride. Dr. DuRussel’s mother worked for both his family dentist and orthodontist and this exposure created an interest in dentistry from an early age. Once in dental school, he chose to pursue orthodontics because it allowed him to work with positive, energetic patients and to affect a beneficial change in their lives.
Dr. DuRussel received his B.S. in Physiology from Michigan State University, and a M.S. in Biomedical Sciences from the Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. DuRussel then went on to earn his D.D.S. degree and his M.S. in Orthodontics from the University of Michigan. The University of Michigan has one of the finest orthodontic residencies in the country. In his residency, Dr. DuRussel received excellent training in various clinical modalities including traditional metal and clear braces, dentofacial orthopedics, temporary anchorage devices, Invisalign therapy, interdisciplinary care and the treatment of craniofacial anomalies.
